Are you following a low-carb diet? Do you want to reduce your intake of carbohydrates, flours or cereals in general?

Mushroom crusts are the best way to avoid giving up one of your favorite recipes: pizza!

Using mushrooms as a crust, you’ll be able to eat pizza every day!

Mushrooms are tasty and very healthy. Over time, you’ll crave this version as much as the traditional one!

 

If you want to innovate, remember that you can stuff the mushrooms with any of your favorite ingredients: ham, bacon, cream cheese, vegetables… These mushroom pizzas can only get better!

Ingredients

Mushroom Pizza

  • 6 medium-sized mushroom caps, washed and stems removed
  • 2 tablespoons tomato pizza sauce
  • 6 tablespoons shredded pizza cheese (mozzarella + emmental + edam)
  • 2 teaspoons dried oregano
  • Optional: ham to fill

Directions

Mushroom Pizza

  1. Preheat the oven to 400ºF.
  2. Cover a baking tray with parchment paper.
  3. Brush each mushroom with olive oil and place them over the parchment paper.
  4. Bake for 10 minutes or until tender.
  5. Take the mushrooms out of the oven and each of them with ⅓ tablespoon pizza sauce, then top with 1 tablespoon of shredded pizza cheese. Sprinkle with dried oregano. Grill for 10 minutes or until the cheese is completely melted.
  6. Serve with fresh basil leaves.
