If you want to try out a new way of eating the pickles, then you might be interested in this recipe. Coated with breadcrumbs, this pickle slices will serve a nice appetizer for your next friend’s gathering. That sauce is all you need to dip in the baked pickles! You can make a bigger batch because they are as delicious as cold as they are warm.

Ingredients

Oven Fried (Baked) Pickle Chips

  • 1 cup low sugar bread and butter pickles about 40
  • 3 tbsp flour can be whole wheat or a mix
  • 1/4 cup egg whites
  • 1/2 cup panko bread crumbs
  • 1/2 tsp sea salt
  • 1/4 tsp fresh ground black pepper
  • 1/4 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/4 tsp onion powder

Sweet & Spicy Horseradish Sauce

  • 1/4 cup low-fat mayonnaise
  • 1/4 cup 2% fat plain Greek yogurt
  • 3 tbsp water
  • 2 tsp tomato paste
  • 2 tsp horseradish
  • 2 tsp SPLENDA® Brown Sugar Blend
  • 3/4 tsp Worcestershire Sauce
  • 1/2 tsp sea salt
  • 1/4 tsp garlic powder

Directions

Oven Fried (Baked) Pickle Chips With Sweet Horseradish Sauce

  1. Place a large wire rack on top of a baking sheet.
  2. Place flour in a shallow dish. Place egg whites in another shallow dish.
  3. Mix together panko, salt, pepper, garlic, and onion powder in another shallow dish.

  4. Dredge pickles in flour, then egg whites and then panko. Press the panko crumbs on both sides.
  5. Place into the refrigerator for 1 hour. (Now is a good time to make the sauce. See below for instructions)
  6. Preheat the oven to 450°.
  7. Spray the pickles with non-stick cooking spray.
  8. Cook for about 7-10 minutes or until crispy and golden brown in color.
    Cook for about 7-10 minutes
  9. Serve and enjoy.
